Some of you were wondering why this blog didn’t receive any update these last days. The thing is I really have been snowed under, and I didn’t have time to keep you updated. Sorry for that!
A lot of work on Twitoaster, plus the fact that I’m currently relocating (and I guess you know how that can be time consuming)…
So here are the news:
- Servers change – Twitoaster is getting bigger and bigger, and I need to move the service on more powerful machines. I’m currently working on their configuration. The move is not planed yet, but I’ll probably do it in a couple of weeks. Because these new servers are costing quite a lot, I have added ads on Twitoaster. I know it sucks, but it’s necessary. I’m thinking to add an option in order to disable them. More info about this very soon.
- Real Time Threading – I’m working on a Twitter streaming API (aka Firehose) migration. This will bring real time threading to Twitoaster. No more sync, no more delays… Yes, it’s going to be great! Also working on it, and this will probably be operational with servers change.
- Geolocation – It was one of the most wanted features: use the Twitter “location” field in order to guess Users’ countries and produce countries rankings. The first version is almost ready and should be put online before the end of the week.
As usual, your feedbacks are welcome :)
